    The M.Sc. in Environmental Resource Management is a new multidisciplinary postgraduate programme that seeks to provide a transformative and capacity-building learning experience where participants can develop the necessary knowledge, skills and competencies to contribute to the significant challenges that Ireland as a society faces in delivering a resource-efficient low carbon economy. The new programme builds on the previous success of the M.Sc. in Environmental Systems, where over 70 graduates successfully gained employment in the construction, consultancy, local government, education and manufacturing sectors. The M.Sc. in Environmental Resource Management curriculum is embedded within a holistic learning model that aligns the programme with the Institute’s research activities, campus operations and community engagement opportunities.

    Programme Modules

    The programme is offered in both full-time (1 year/ 3 semesters) and part-time (2 years/ 6 semesters) modes.

    There are a number of mandatory (M) modules and electives (E) that must be completed as outlined below for the full-time mode option.

    Semester 1

    Mandatory modules include: Environment and Society 1, Environmental Management and Assessment 1 and Thesis/Research Methods 1.

    Elective modules include: Energy Systems and Management 1, Sustainable Waste and Resource Management 1, Engineering Hydrology and Water Resource Protection 1, Construction Resource Efficiency and Lifecycle Assessment 1.

    Student must select 3 electives from the 4 modules on offer.

    Semester 2

    Mandatory modules include: Environment and Society 2, Environmental Management and Assessment 2 and Thesis/Research Methods 2.
