The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at Qatar University has designed the curriculum by focusing on the high-level knowledge and skills expected from a graduate program in computing. The distinguishing characteristic of the master’s curriculum stresses on applications of computing without neglecting research orientation. The program offers opportunities for those students with non-computing exposure to redirect their career towards computing. The introduction of a one year qualifying program is designed to compliment the background of students who do not have sufficient prior computing knowledge. This will definitely play an important role in the inter-disciplinary aspects of computing with a balanced perspective in industries.
The Master of Science in Computing is a flexible graduate program taught by world class faculty members drawn from all over the world.. It provides options. The program offers the selection of one of two concentrations (tracks): Information science and Network systems. Students have a choice of a thesis option or a project option, giving them the opportunity to focus on a specific area of interest in computing. These options prepare students to advance their careers in industry or to pursue further study towards a Ph.D. in a computing field. All courses will normally be offered in the afternoon and evening.
