Course details

Master of Education degree will enhance the professional development of educators in a collaborative and supportive environment. It gives teachers the critical space to explore and reflect upon their practices in the school, contextualising these experiences within educational theory, pedagogy and policy. It offers an opportunity for critical reflection on what you have experienced and the exploration of new ideas and opportunities.

Themes within the programme focus on the school as a learning environment and explore issues of equality and diversity in education. The course enables participants to explore the nature of quality in teaching and learning, and to undertake a research project on an educational issue of interest to them. A wide variety of methodologies – lectures, seminars, reflective practice, workshops and policy seminars – is used throughout in a supportive environment.

The course is designed to fit the schedule of teachers and involves attendance at lectures at Maynooth University for one evening per week (currently Wednesdays) during the academic terms.
