The MA in Social Studies (Advanced Professional Practice) is tailored to meet the needs of graduates from a wide variety of backgrounds who are intent on continuing their professional development. Addressing today's most pressing social challenges demands an ability to understand how research, policy and practice are critically important in shaping efficient and effective practice-based responses capable of engaging positively with rapid change and promoting improved service delivery. In order to become effective advanced practitioners, students over the course of four semester, will examine the four pillars of advanced practice : research, evidence-based practice, reflective inter-professional practice and policy design & implementation.

Delivered part time over two years, this programme will offer participants a unique whole system pathway towards advanced practice. Delivered in an innovative and flexible manner, a wide range of teaching methodologies will be utilised, including on-line and blended learning options, and the part-time delivery will support and facilitate practitioners ongoing professional development by making the contact time accessible and manageable within the working week. Expert guest speakers will be a feature of the programme and the programme will be delivered by staff with extensive academic and practice experience.
