Course details

This course is the first in a series of how to simplify and apply operations to rational expressions as well as solving rational equations. Like with any book or lesson plan the course is broken down into three parts.

  • Introduction
  • Examples
  • Conclusion

The introduction is provides the student with a solid foundations to complete the rest of the course. Providing essential definitions, processes, and tips and tricks that will help the student work through the examples outlined in the course.

In the examples the student will have access to a wide variety of problems that not only focus on basic to advanced but also additional skills that students may see in problems on a test or homework. The variety of the problems are designed to always keep the student thinking but remained focused on applying the general concepts of the course. You will explore problems using the the properties of exponents to factoring different types of quadratics. Rational expressions will have common denominators as well as problems with unlike denominators where we will have to determine the LCD. Each example is accompanied by a step by step tutorial for the student to follow if they get stuck or simply want to check their answer. If the student prefers to try on their own but just wants a hint on how to start. Each tutorial's description outlines the Properties and Processes used for the problem as well as a helpful hint to get started.

To finish of the course you will be asked to discuss and reflect on a set of essential questions that cover what was taught during the course. You may also elect to challenge your skills with a couple of extension problems. A summary will be provided with common mistakes and highlighted points from the course need to reinforced.

This course is the second in a series of Rational Expressions and Equations and is very helpful for what you need to solve Rational Equations. The course will only take a couple of hours but is designed to be used as a complete guide and reinforcement tool to be used over a couple of days.
