Course details

This Certificate is based on a suite of modules from the Institutes existing Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in Manufacturing Technology (Level 7) which is targeted at providing key transferrable skills for skilled technicians.

Entry Requirement

Applicants must meet the following minimum entry requirements:

  1. National Certificate in Technology with specialisation in Manufacturing or Maintenance Technology at pass level, or
  2. National Certificate in Engineering with specialisation in Electronics, Mechanical, manufacturing, industrial, computer, electrical, or production engineering, or equivalent, at Pass level, or
  3. Qualifications and level performances equivalent to above (NQAI Level 6 Qualification), or
  4. Prior experiential learning and/or experience deemed to meet the criteria for an award at level 6 as set out on the NQAI framework.

Examinations

  • Students will be assessed by means of assessments and examinations for each module.

Course Content

The programme includes the following specific modules that will best support the learners in their goal of achieving employment; Project Management, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Maintenance Systems, Manufacturing Systems, Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Energy Efficiency in Industry.

Limerick Institute of Technology (LIT) is an institute of higher education in Limerick, a modern urban city in the Mid-Theyst region of Ireland and is one of 13 institutes that are members of the Institutes of Technology, Ireland (IOTI).
