Course details

The aim of this FETAC Level 6 course is to ensure that participants acquire the necessary knowledge & skills necessary to become a competent manual handling instructor & assessor.

Course Objectives:

On completion of this course, learners will be able to;

• Know the relevant health & safety legislation/regulation as it relates to Manual Handling
• Apply the principles of safe manual handling practices
• Complete a manual handling risk assessment
• Deliver a theoretical & practical manual handling training session

Course Programme:

Day 1 Legislation, Regulation & Ergonomics

Day 2 Anatomy, Physiology, Fitness & Flexibility

Day 3 Manual Handling Risk Assessment, Trainer Skills

Day 4 Practical Lifting, Manual Handling Course & Exam Preparation

Day 5 Written & Practical Examinations

Training Methods:

Classroom presentation on multimedia, supplemented by videos, flipchart discussions, practical demonstrations & participant exercises throughout the course.

Who Should Attend?

This course is aimed at people who would like to become a qualified manual handing instructor. Participants will need to be capable of a certain level of fitness & flexibility in order to successfully complete the practical element of the course.

Additional Information:

At the end of the course, successful participants will be awarded a certificate which will be valid for 5 years. Each successful participant will also receive a manual handling instructor’s pack which will enable them to present the course to the standard required by the HSA.

Course Requirements:

Light comfortable clothing is recommended due to the practical aspect of the course.
