Course details
This course is appropriate for anyone undertaking a qualification in bookkeeping for home or work. Basic numeracy, literacy and computer skills a pre-requisite for this course.
Sage Accounts is the computerised book-keeping application software used to teach this course.
Course Contect:
- Explain the key terminology associated with the recording and maintenance of bookkeeping records.
- Complete the books of first entry with appropriate VAT and departmental analysis from a range of source documents to include; invoices, credit notes, bank records, petty cash vouchers
- Post the information from the daybooks to the appropriate accounts in the ledgers
- Extract a trial balance at the end of an accounting period
- Prepare a Bank Reconciliation Statement from data supplied
- Prepare the end-of-period VAT Return
- Analyse tasks completed making appropriate corrections to any errors and editing of data as directed
- Printing reports after backing up computerised data.

Old Coolattin Country Ltd, trading as Carnew Training & Development Centre (Carnew TDC) is a community development organisation formed in 1991. Our mission is the economic, cultural, & social development of Carnew and the surrounding area.
We cooperate with all state agencies to combat social exclusion due to geographical & access issues. Our target groups are all the socially excluded; long-termed unemployed, lone parents, travellers, disabled, aged, & ex-prisoners. We place specific emphasis on helping anyone with poor educational attainment, low self-esteem, or poor access to training due to the restricted local transport facilities.
Carnew TDC aims to build the capacity of everyone living in rural areas of South Wicklow, East Carlow, and North Wexford, enabling them as individuals and members of their community to generate growth and sustainability the area.
We provide a quality service that allows for the acquisition and development of skills and knowledge at all levels.
