Course details

Linux is an open source operating system used by millions of desktops and servers around the world. This course provides an introduction to the Linux operating system. This course is aimed at learners who have no previous experience with the Linux operating system. No previous knowledge of Linux is needed for this course.

Programme Aims and Objectives

This course aims at providing the learner with a real world introduction to the benefits of using the linux operating system. Once this course is completed the learner will be able to:

  • Select a distribution of the Linux operating system from the web
  • Download and install the Linux operating system of choice
  • Network a Linux PC or Server
  • Perform basic business tasks with the operating system

  • Introduction to open source software and Linux
  • Selecting a distribution of Linux
  • Downloading and installing Linux
  • Connecting a Linux PC to a network
  • Updating a Linux PC
  • Firewalls and security
  • Introduction to the bash shell
  • Writing a bash script
  • Bootloader configuration
