Course details

This is a one year full-time course leading on from the Early Childhood Care and Education Level 5 Certificate and is designed for students who wish to pursue a career in Childcare. It prepares students with the knowledge and skills to work with babies, young children, families and other staff. This course aims to equip students to work unsupervised or in a supervisory capacity.

Course content

  • Supervision in Early Childhood Care
  • Childhood Social, legal and Health Studies
  • Early Childhood Curriculum
  • Team Leadership
  • Occupational First Aid
  • Supervision in Early Childhood Care
  • Work Experience
  • Early Learning Philosophy
  • Special Needs Assisting

Please note students will complete the minimum required 4 modules at Level 6.

Entry Requirements

Students wishing to attend this course are advised to have completed level 5 studies in childcare in order to secure a place on the course. Applications are especially invited from mature students. Final selection subject to interview and all applicants may be subject to Garda Vetting.

Certification

On successful completion of the course, candidates who reach the required standard will receive the following awards:

  • QQI Advanced Certificate in Early Childhood Care and Education - Level 6 (6M2007)

  • Barnados Training
  • Occupational First Aid.
