    Course details

    The Leadership and Advocacy Programme for people with Intellectual Disabilities was created through a joint effort of the LIT Social Care Programme in partnership with community organisations providing services to people with disability. The main aims of the programme are to deliver a set of modules relevant to the lives of individuals with an intellectual disability, and to assist students in evaluating their own lives and increase expectations for their futures. The programme is tailored each year to the needs of the group as identified by the students. Material is delivered through lectures, workshops and co-learning assignments with the students of the LIT B.A. Applied Social Studies in Social Care.

    Entry Requirement

    Applicants should be age 18 or over. The course is open to individuals with an intellectual disability. Candidates must demonstrate a willingness to develop their self-advocacy skills and an ability to develop as leaders. Acceptance onto the course will be subject to interview. Literacy and numeracy are not a requirement for the course.

    Limerick Institute of Technology (LIT) is an institute of higher education in Limerick, a modern urban city in the Mid-Theyst region of Ireland and is one of 13 institutes that are members of the Institutes of Technology, Ireland (IOTI).
