    This Course will aim to offer participants and introduction to the world of print media while also preparing students for entrance into Arts programmes in Irish universities. As well as their journalism studies, students will have the opportunity to continue their language study and look at modern political thought. During the course students may opt to seek work experience with media outlets, to have their work published and to build up an attractive portfolio.

    • Writing Skills for Journalism
    • Irish
    • Research Skills for Journalism
    • Political Studies
    • Safety and Health at Work
    • Technical Skills for Journalism
    • European Studies
    • French/Spanish
    • Communications
    • Work Experience
    • Word Processing

    Certification - FETAC Level 5 in Journalism 5M2464.

    Career Opportunities:
    There are now 48 places in First Arts in NUI Maynooth, as well as places in DCU, UCC and many local IT colleges for students who hold a FETAC qualification in Journalism. There are many opportunities for employment and further study in the journalism, media or communications areas. For example students could use their portfolio to get established in a media outlet, complete further study in the journalism area, or go on to study English, Media, etc as part of an Arts programme in a university.

    • LCVP or LCA
    • Mature Students of all backgrounds
    • Other equivalent qualification
