Course details

course provides learners with the skills, knowledge and confidence essential to pursue a career in Journalism, encompassing the use of digital and social media. Learners study all aspects of the industry and learn about the theory and practice involved in being a journalist. They are also encouraged to submit articles to newspapers, magazines and websites from early in the year. The Advanced Certificate is designed to build on the skills and knowledge acquired in the Level 5 course. During Year 2 learners work to produce a news blog and features blog. They will also take charge of broadcasting news from the DFEi’s own radio station “The Wave” on 107.8fm. This course has a strong progression record, with 100 per cent of applicants gaining entry to second year of the DIT Degree in Journalism in 2013.
