Course details

On successful completion of the course and exams you will be a qualified manicurist enabling you to become self employed, gain employment in a beauty clinic, spa, hairdressers, or go on to become a nail technician.

Course details:

• Study of the anatomy of the arms, hands, legs & feet
• Study of the growth & structure of the nail
• Study of disorders of the nail and how to recognise them
• Study of the skin and skin diseases & disorders which may effect the hands & feet and how to recognise them
• Learn all the materials used within professional manicure/pedicure treatment and how to use them
• Learn how to apply a professional manicure/pedicure considering the natural nail shape and nail condition
• Application & removal of commercial scrubs & masks
• Application of oil & paraffin wax treatments
• Learn different enamelling techniques
• Learn about nail technology
• Cosmetic science – gain knowledge of products & the ingredients in products – how they work
• Client care & consultation techniques
• Hygiene & sterilisation
• Specialised treatments
• Correct home care and record keeping

You also have the opportunity of adding the other units (skin care & eye treatments, waxing, & make up) to complete the beauty specialist diploma.

Students will also have to enrol for the ITEC Professional Conduct & Business Awareness exam. It is an ITEC requirement that students sit this exam by end of first practical application.
