Course details

This module will introduce the core IT skills required for the business administration environment, covering the following applications - file management, Internet/email, presentations and spreadsheets. The module also incorporates significant technology trends that affect computing and everyday life. This theory component is delivered online, using the Blackboard Learning System.

Description/Learning Outcomes

  1. Understand and apply technology in their personal and professional lives.
  2. Use Internet, email and presentation tools to facilitate communication.
  3. Create and maintain a correct computerised filing system.
  4. Prepare spreadsheets to an intermediate level.

Learning Strategies

  • Small classes with close supervision in a computer-based laboratory situation.
  • The students's ability to apply learning will be enhanced through working with practical examples in class.
  • The theory will be delivered online, which provides flexibility and convenience. Course materials can be easily accessed by students and studied at their own pace and time.
