    Introduction

    This one year course will provide students with the skills, knowledge and professional qualifications to work as a Nail Technician and/or Salon Administrator. There is also an emphasis on practical selling, information technology and customer service skills. These business skills will assist a graduate who would like to be self-employed.

    Course Structure

    Students will learn the knowledge and skills required to work as a nail technician including anatomy of the hand and skin, manicure and pedicure, health and hygiene, salon procedures, product knowledge, cosmetic science, consultation and contra-indications and nail extension systems. There is also an emphasis on practical selling, information technology skills and customer service skills.

    ITEC Nail Art Diploma

    QQI Level 5 Certificate in Community Health Services

    • Word Processing (MS Office 2013)

    Assessment and Certification

    • Assessment is based on a combination of work submitted during the year and exams.
    • This course is certified by ITEC (International Therapy Examination Council) and QQI.
    • ITEC applies a rigid set of standards governing attendance, learning and examinations.
    • Evidence of Treatments (case studies) is required for ITEC qualifications.
    • Learners must pass all 8 QQI subjects to be awarded a QQI Level 5 Certificate in Community and Health Services 5M4468.

    Entry Requirements

    Leaving Certificate/LCA

    Applicants should have achieved five passes on ordinary level. LCA applicants should submit details of credits awarded.

    Others including Mature Students

    Applicants without the entry requirements are welcome and will be assessed individually.
