Introduction
The modern office environment demands more than a basic knowledge of computer applications. It requires advanced skills and an ability to combine familiar office desktop applications with aspects of the cloud.
This course is designed for those who want to acquire the skills to use computer applications at an advanced level in the modern office environment using the latest technologies such as Office 365, Google Docs, Apple iCloud and Dropbox which facilitate the storing, editing and sharing of documents on-line.

Learners will gain the knowledge and skill to:
- Share documents on-line using the latest technologies such as Office 365, Google Docs, Apple iCloud and Dropbox
- Design a spreadsheet to analyse business strategies
- Design documents and reports using advanced features of word processing
- Use a wide range of database functions in order to manipulate, retrieve and output information using queries, searching/sorting fields, and reports
- Generate graphic content using a DTP application to create, import, capture and manipulate images and drawings in response to client briefs
- Understand the evolution of eBusiness and how the internet operates as a global communications network
- Demonstrate personal initiative and resourcefulness in responding to client briefs

Assessment and Certification
- Assessment is based on a combination of work submitted during the year and exams.
- This course is certified QQI.
- Learners who successfully achieve all 8 subjects will attain the Level 5 Certificate in Office Informatics.
Entry Requirements ;
Leaving Certificate/LCA
Applicants should have achieved five passes at ordinary level. LCA applicants should submit details of credits awarded.
Others including Mature Students
Applicants without the entry requirements are welcome.
Advisory Meeting
Applicants will have an advisory meeting to offer guidance and to ensure course suitability. Places will be offered, on a first come basis, following the outcome of the personal Advisory Meeting, subject to the applicant meeting the entry requirements of the course. Applicants will also be advised on course costs and registration details.
