Course details

This course is focused on advanced functionality of the Objective-C Programming language.

This course is aimed at students with programming experience, or students who have completed the iPad & iPhone Programming 1 course at CCT.

Programme Aims and Objectives

This course exposes the learner to the advanced concepts of Objective-C Programming language.

Once this course is completed, the learner will be able to:

  • Develop an advanced Objective-C Application
  • Package and deploy a Objective-C Application
  • Utilize and repurpose existing Objective-C code

Programme Content

Topics covered in this module include:

  • Object oriented programming with Objective-C
  • Design patterns
  • Error handling and native logging
  • Outline of common utility functions available in Objective-C
  • Implementing open source packages in your code
  • Unit testing with Objective-C
  • Creating distributable applications, allowing your software to easily be transported and installed on other computers
  • Manipulating XML with Objective-C
  • Interacting with databases using Objective-C
  • Benchmarking your code and optimization strategies
  • Developing a lightweight client for interacting with HTTP servers
  • Accessing third-party APIs such as Twitter through Objective-C, opening the potential of your application
  • Processing HTML documents using Document Object Model parsers.
