Course details
This course provides an overview of shipping practices, its liabilities, roles and impact in international trade. At the end of the course, the participants would be able to understand the roles of shipping in international trade, learn how customers evaluate and select shipping lines for their shipping requirements, and acquire knowledge on shipping line operations. Also, participants would understand the duties, rights and liabilities of a carrier, be aware of the importance and application of IT, know the financial considerations of operating shipping services and appreciate the roles and future challenges of shipping carriers in supply chain management.

About Singapore Shipping Association
The SSA started to offer courses to shore-based shipping companies as far back as 1989. Twelve long and short part time vocational courses are currently conducted by full time professionals from the shipping industry. The courses are very well supported by the shipping companies. The Association, through its Executive Development Programme, aims to upgrade the high level of service and professionalism of shipping staff to enhance Singapore's competitiveness as an International Maritime Centre.
