The Introduction to Live Online Classrooms with Adobe Connect course provides a ‘getting started introduction’ to the process and skill of hosting live online classroom environments or ‘Virtual Classrooms’. You will gain an insight into best practice approaches for the design and delivery of interactive and engaging live classroom sessions and will have first-hand experience of the VC while participating on the course.

Who Should Attend?

The Introduction to Live Online Classrooms with Adobe Connect course is for anyone working in the field of instructional design and elearning development, wishing to advance their skills and confidence in the area of online classroom facilitation. Previous attendees of the elearning Essentials: Introduction to Instructional Design programme will also benefit greatly.

Course Structure

The Introduction to Live Online Classrooms with Adobe Connect course has been designed using a blended learning approach. It will include the following learning interventions.

  • Live virtual classroom session - The course will start with a live virtual classroom session to introduce you to the core concepts associated with blended learning
  • Skills based workshops - Following the Virtual Classroom, you will participate in a half day skills based workshop focusing on practicing the design of a blended learning programme
  • eLearning Resources - You will have access to a wide range of elearning resources on the Harvest Learning Hub including discussion forums, digital learning resources, case studies, videos, additional reading material and a personal ePortfolio

  • Basic principles of Instructional Design for live classroom sessions
  • Introduction to VC tools available on the market
  • Introductory demonstration of Adobe Connect
  • Setting up the live classroom environment
  • Lesson planning for the live classroom environment – key design principles
  • Creating participant engagement through the live classroom
  • Evaluation for the VC

Course Outcomes

At the end of this introduction to Live Online Classrooms with Adobe Connect you will be able to:

  • Demonstrate an ability to apply basic instructional design principles to the creation of live classroom events
  • Be familiar with the choice of tools available on the market for such elearning – researching, critiquing and assessing the suitability of the main contenders
  • Understand best practice principles for creating and setting up a VC – notice required, recommendations regarding technology etc...
  • Be able to apply key functions within Adobe Connect to a work based elearning project for example setting up the course within Adobe, best practice design principles for the VC environment, creating polls to name a few
