Course details

This course provides a ‘getting started introduction’ to the process and skill of eAuthoring using Articulate Storyline as the preferred eAuthoring tool. On completion of the programme you will gain a beginners to intermediate working knowledge of Storyline and will develop your expertise through the creation of a practical work based project throughout.

Who Should Attend?

This Introduction to eAuthoring with Articulate Storyline course is for any individual working in the field of instructional design and elearning development who wishes to advance their skills with Articulate Storyline. Previous attendees at the elearning Essentials: Introduction to Instructional Design programme will also benefit greatly.

Course Structure

This Introduction to eAuthoring with Articulate Storyline course has been designed using a blended learning approach. It will include the following learning interventions.

  • Live virtual classroom session - The course will start with a live virtual classroom session to introduce you to the core concepts associated with blended learning
  • Skills based workshops - Following the Virtual Classroom, you will participate in a skills based workshop focusing on practicing the design of a blended learning programme
  • eLearning Resources- You will have access to a wide range of elearning resources on the Harvest Learning Hub including discussion forums, digital learning resources, case studies, videos, additional reading material and a personal ePortfolio

  • Basic principles of Instructional Design
  • Introduction to eAuthroing tools available on the market
  • Introductory demonstration of Articulate Storyline
  • Creating basic digital learning resources within Storyline
  • Enhancing DLRs with interactivity
  • Integrating independent learning assignments within a DLR
  • Publishing DLRs in Storyline

Course Outcomes

At the end of this Introduction to eAuthoring with Articulate Storyline course you will be able to:

  • Demonstrate an ability to apply basic instructional design principles to the creation of digital learning resources
  • Become familiar with the choice of eAuthoring tools available on the market – researching, critiquing and assessing the suitability of the main contenders
  • Apply key functions within Articulate Storyline to a work based digital learning resource including creating layers and triggers, creating animations, creating and editing voice narration to name a few.
  • Publish a digital learning resource within Articulate Storyline for LMS (SCORM enabled), for the web and to an online account
