Course details

Scratch is a programming language and an online community where children can program and share interactive media such as stories, games, and animation with people from all over the world. As children create with Scratch, they learn to think creatively, work collaboratively, and reason systematically.

Course Content

This introductory course will allow you to quickly and easily learn how to use some of the capabilities of Scratch. You will learn how to move Sprites (people, animals, objects, etc.) in your programs, how to add sounds, how to change colours, control actions with the mouse or the keyboard, how to design your own Sprites, etc.

  • Motion and Sound: To learn how to move left and right, and how to add sounds.
  • Repeating Actions: To learn how to repeat actions and how to control them with the green flag and the stop sign.
  • Playing with Colour: To learn how to change the colours of a sprite and control actions with the keyboard.
  • Create Your Own Sprites: To learn how to create your own sprites or import from a large library of sprites.
  • Speaking and Thinking: To learn how to make our sprites tell their ideas or think thoughts.
  • Creating Image Effects: To learn how to apply image effects to the sprites: mosaic, fisheye, etc.
  • Sounds, Voices and Music: To learn how add sounds, voices and music to our programs.
  • Creating Animations: To learn how to make animations with our sprites, or create your own animations.
