To enable participants to gain more in-depth and practical knowledge of the Code of Practice for bunkering SS600.
Course Outline
Day One
- Bunkering Standards, Requirements and Procedures
- Oil/Bunker Tankers Familiarization
- Maritime Security and Oil Tanker Safety Awareness
Day Two
- Essential Soft Skills
- Case Studies and Assessment
- Personal Safety Awareness/Basic Seamanship (Practical Module)
Course Entry Requirements for Applicants
- At least 21 years of age and medically fit;
- Have a working knowledge of the English language;
- Possess minimum ITE/NTC Certificate; and
- Have attended the basic 1-day course on SS CP60 / SS600.
Those without ITE/NTC Certificate but with one-year working experience as a cargo officer or completed at least 30 bunker deliveries* as a cargo officer trainee may also be considered.
*A certification / confirmation letter from the applicant's employer which holds a Bunkering Licence issued by MPA.
Course Methodology
Apart from lectures, the course will be highly interactive and based on practical and intellectual experiences. It will involve group discussions, video presentations and question-and-answer sessions. The course will only be conducted in English.

Bunker suppliers, bunker clerks/cargo officers, bunker craft operators, supervisors, management trainees, executives, bunker traders and brokers, bunker surveyors and shipping agents.

About Singapore Shipping Association
The SSA started to offer courses to shore-based shipping companies as far back as 1989. Twelve long and short part time vocational courses are currently conducted by full time professionals from the shipping industry. The courses are very well supported by the shipping companies.
