Course details
This course is part one in a series of three courses that provides the skills and knowledge necessary to implement a core Windows Server 2012 infrastructure in an existing enterprise environment. These courses are:
- Install and Configure Windows Server 2012
- Administering Windows Server 2012
- Configuring Advanced Windows Server 2012
This course is intended for information technology professionals who have good Windows operating system knowledge and experience, and want to acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to implement the core infrastructure services in an existing Windows Server 2012 environment.
This course primarily covers the initial implementation and configuration of core services including Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS), networking services, Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2012 configuration, how to configure and manage high availability features, file and storage solutions, and network services in Windows Server 2012.

Candidates will be able to acquire the following knowledge and skills after completing this module
- Installing, upgrading, and Migrating to windows 8.1
- Configuring Disks and Device Drivers
- Configuring file Access and Printers on Windows 8.1 Clients
- Configuring network connectivity
- Configuring Wireless Network Connections
- Securing Windows 8.1 Desktops
- Optimizing and maintaining windows 8.1 client computers
Entry Requirements
- Students must have completed a minimum A level or a Polytechnic Diploma qualifications
- Students with Diploma in Engineering, IT, Finance with or without experience may apply
Certificates Issued
Following awards will be issued to students after successfully completing the assessment:
- IT-IS-312S-1 Install software to networked computers
- IT-IS-313S-1 Provide system administration
Education Pathway
Students need to successfully complete another module, "Support and Maintain IT Infrastructure" to to be eligible for the Microsoft certification MCITP ( Microsoft Certified IT Professional certification) exam.
Graduation Requirements
Students must complete and successfully pass all modules. Student, upon failing, will need to take the module again. An additional charge applies in such cases. For WDA-funded students, they must successfully pass or deemed Competent (C) in all units
