This module aims to provide the learner with the skills, knowledge and competence to prevent and control infections in the healthcare area.
It is an elective module towards the Level 5 Award in Healthcare Support.
Programme Aim:
At the end of the course the learner will:
- Create awareness of the importance of infection prevention and control in providing a safe environment for all users of the healthcare setting including patients, staff and visitors
- Understand their own role in the prevention of the spread of infection.
- Create awareness of what the area of Infection Control means and its importance for every member of the Healthcare team
- Better understanding of the basic principles of infection control and be able to apply standard precautions in relation to infection control
- Develop an awareness of healthcare-associated infection
Entry Requirements
Minimum of Level 4 certificate standard of education. Strong interest in the provision of quality care in a healthcare setting.
