This course provides a broad survey of the most recent developments, newest equipment, and emerging design concepts in the field of liquid mixing. The course covers fundamentals in mixing theory including selection, scale-up, practical applications to mixing technology and advanced topics such as solid-liquid process. Participants will gain an excellent understanding of the fundamentals of mixing and how to apply the right technology to the mixing process.

Course Objectives

• Learn basic concepts and practical methods to perform laboratory or pilot plant studies for the development of liquid mixing processes.
• Identify the geometric, physical and dynamic variables of importance for the analysis of mixing in a stirred tank.
• Analyze a variety of key geometric variables, including tank shape, impeller spacing, and baffles.
• Quantify the power consumption and mixing time in a mixing vessel.
• Scale up and scale down by using practical proven techniques of meeting geometrical similarity.
