This subject provides a comprehensive review of theoretical concepts underpinning inductively coupled plasma (ICP) technology. The content includes components and functions of ICP-spectrometry and ICP-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) instruments, analytical methodologies using ICP techniques, sample introduction methods, and optimization of parameters for ICP based analyses.
Objectives
This aims of this subject are to equip students with the basic knowledge and skills to:
- explain basic principles of atomic and mass spectrometry
- operate and maintain ICP-spectrometric instruments
- perform chemical analyses using ICP technology
