Target Audience:
Mid- to senior-level officials from ministries and agencies involved in country competitiveness programmes, investment promotion agencies or ministries.
Qualification:
Participants should be involved in the development of competitiveness strategies and policies at the national level.
Language:
The workshop is conducted in English with simultaneous interpretation into Arabic.
Course Description:
This workshop, presented by experienced OECD staff and international experts, covers instruments, methodologies and best practices to promote country competitiveness with a focus on the MENA region. Key issues addressed in the workshop range from general concepts and rankings measuring the competitiveness of an economy to policies at the general business environment and sector-specific level. The workshop combines both theory and case studies based on the experience of OECD’s members, other countries and course participants.
The workshop aims at building on participants’ knowledge of how to improve the competitiveness of their economies and influence their position in competitiveness rankings. It endeavors to expose participants to the various dimensions of business environment policies, including investment, SME and entrepreneurship policies, public-private partnerships, regulatory reform, among other important procedures. In addition, the training seeks to provide insights on how sector-specific strategies can help promote structural changes in the economy and familiarize participants with the relevant tools.
