Course details

This instructor led course is designed to provide delegates with the knowledge and skills necessary to install, configure, and administer Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Active Directory™ directory services. The course also focuses on implementing Group Policy and understanding the Group Policy tasks required to centrally manage users and computers.

Target Audience

  • This course is intended for support professionals who will be supporting Microsoft Windows 2000 directory services.

Objectives

  • Describe the logical and physical components of Active Directory.
  • Configure the DNS Server service to support Active Directory.
  • Create a Windows 2000 domain by installing Active Directory on a computer running Windows 2000 Server.
  • Set up and administer domain user accounts and groups.
  • Publish resources—including shared folders, printers and services—in Active Directory.
  • Delegate administrative control of Active Directory objects to decentralize administration in a Windows 2000 network.
  • Implement Group Policy to centrally manage users and computers.Use Group Policy to configure and manage the user desktop environment.
  • Use Group Policy to deploy and manage software.
  • Use Group Policy to implement and manage security settings.
  • Create and manage Active Directory trees and forests.
  • Manage Active Directory replication within a site and between sites.
  • Manage operations masters.
  • Manage and restore the Active Directory database.
  • Implement and administer Active Directory based on a directory services design provided by an enterprise architect.
