Course details
ILM qualifications provide generic leadership and management skills for those planning to or working in a management or leadership role. The qualification provides a range of units which are aimed at developing strategic leadership and management skills. For example ‘Assessing Your Own Leadership Capability’ explores effective leadership styles and motivation techniques used to achieve you and your organisation’s values and goals.
By undertaking this qualification you will develop your ability to lead and inspire, raise your profile in any organisation, and improve the efficiency of a business by creating an effective and motivated team.
Assessments
Assessments are completed by continuous assessment via ILM written assignments for each unit, written questions, reflective reviews and learning logs. Assessments are internally assessed and externally verified and students will need to demonstrate that all assessment criteria is reached to the required standard of the level of the unit.
Entry Requirements
- Students must be 18 years or over
- 3 GCSEs/IGCSEs at Grade ‘C’ or above (including English Language) plus
- 2 A Levels or AVCEs at Grade ‘C’ or above or 4 AS Levels at Grade ‘C’ or above
- or the International Baccalaureate (IB) with a minimum of 24 points
- or the European Baccalaureate (EB) with a minimum of 60 points
- or a comparable qualification from another Educational System
- Work experience with a significant span of control and management responsibility
- A medium Intermediate level of English IELTS 5 or equivalent

- Professionally train leaders who will be well equipped to deal with team management issues
Course Content (Modules)
The ILM course in Leadership and Management is delivered on a full time basis and requires the completion of the following modules for the award of 37 credits.
The qualification is designed to explore:
- Core management skills – such as understanding how to organise and delegate
- The ability to perform management tasks –manage projects, lead meetings
- Principles of team leadership – for example, how to motivate people to improve performance
- Change and innovation – plan and manage change, create a culture of innovation
- A full range of communications skills
- The skills involved in managing people and relationships – negotiation, networking, building relationships
