Technology Enhanced Learning is a Short Learning Programme designed to address the digital literacies and digital citizenship skills gap. Educators have a responsibility to support their students to develop these skills. Before doing this, however, educators themselves need to enhance their digital literacies and digital citizenship skills.
Web and Digital literacies refer to a series of skills required to effectively use both online tools as well as to access and use information on the World Wide Web
Digital citizenship refers to the accountability an individual has to navigate and use information on the World Wide Web responsibly and ethically.
Digital Literacies provides foundational knowledge and skills with the aim of building and enhancing a teacher's digital literacy levels.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
- Any individual wanting to complete a quality professional development learning programme to enhance their digital literacies skills and to learn the requirements of being a responsible digital citizenship.
ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
Candidates should meet the following requirements and have basic knowledge and experience with the following:

- Have used a Personal computer before.
DURATION AND MODE OF OFFERING
- The programme consists of 50 sessions, which can either be offered as full day workshops over 6 days or a series of workshops over 6 weeks. The structure of the timeframe is flexible depending on the needs of the participants.
PROGRAMME MATERIAL
- The short learning programme fee includes all programme material, which becomes the property of the student. This material constitutes a valuable source of on-going reference.
PROGRAMME EVALUATION
- The programme evaluation for each module is different and will consist of an assignment/project or a portfolio of evidence.

PROGRAMME CONTENT
- Provide foundational knowledge and skills with the aim of building and enhancing a teacher's digital literacy levels.
- Access and navigate a variety of digital platforms. These application include: "Coggle" (an online tool for mind-mapping)
- Annotate digital material and e-books and finally how to source and access "creative commons" images and information, thereby avoiding copyright issues.
Web & Digital Literacies
- To define the eight essential elements of digital literacy
- To provide an opportunity to explore and grow Web and digital skills and competencies through a range of online, activity-based learning opportunities.
- To provide teachers with the skills to introduce their students to these web and digital skills as they pertain to their own learning context.
Teaching Digital Citizenship
- Identify, explain and develop the five areas of critical skills needed for the 21st century,
- of the five fluencies to a specific teaching and learning context.
- Identify and explain the nine elements of digital citizenship
- Demonstrate an understanding of the issues around being a digital citizen, and what digital citizenship is about.
Digital Literacies:
- Provide foundational knowledge and skills with the aim of building and enhancing a teacher's digital literacy levels.
- Access and navigate a variety of digital platforms. These application include: "Coggle" (an online tool for mind mapping) - teachers are taught how to use this tool and can, in turn, encourage their students to use "Coggle" to create study notes.
- Annotate digital material and e-books and finally how to source and access "creative commons" images and information, thus avoiding copyright issues.
CERTIFICATION
- Technology Enhanced Programme is a short learning programme (SLP) that is certified by the Independent Institute of Education. All short learning programmes (SLPs) that are available through The Business School have been specifically designed for working adults. These SLPs differ from the full qualifications that are also available through Varsity College and which are registered on the National Qualifications Framework. Before registration students must ensure that the programme selected best suits their individual learning and workplace objectives.
