    Course details

    The main aim of this course is to provide the participants with a basic introduction to taxonomy and classification of flowering plants of Kuwait, their habitat and ecosystem. The course will familiarize them with the important plants of Kuwait and create awareness on the native flora of Kuwait among the participants. The course will introduce participants to different types of seeds, their identification and methods of dispersal.

    Objectives

    At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

    • Identify the more common families and the most frequently encountered species from these families
    • Recognize the native plants of Kuwait and their ecosystem
    • Explore plant taxonomy with the framework of the Kuwait flora, which represents diverse families
    • Outline the taxonomy key

    Participants

    People with a bachelor’s degree/ diploma in life sciences and anyone with an interest in native plants

    Pre-requisites

    People who have a strong interest and desire to learn about the native plants of Kuwait
