Financial qualifications are no longer just for university graduates. Times have changed and tuition has evolved. And financial literacy is a scarce skill. So, whether you have recently left school or are already working, you can study towards an internationally recognised ICB qualification.
The Bookkeeping to Trial Balance programme equips students with the skills necessary to keep and maintain a set of accounts from source documentation and books of prime entry to trial balance. The programme is practical and enables students to function effectively in an accounting environment.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
- Those who wish to acquire bookkeeping skills, which include maintaining sets of accounts up to trial balance stage.
- Owners or managers of small businesses who wish to keep their own books.
- Those who wish to embark on a career in bookkeeping.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
- Grade 10 or equivalent.
- At least 16 years of age.
- No prior accounting knowledge is required.
PROGRAMME MATERIAL
- The programme fee includes ICB registration and ICB assessment fees and all programme material, which becomes the property of the student.
PROGRAMME EVALUATION
- The programme assessment portfolio of evidence includes three activities, two formative evaluations and a written examination at the close of the programme.
PROGRAMME OUTLINE
- Introduction to basic business, bookkeeping and accounting.
- Value Added Tax and source documents.
- Recording cash transactions.
- Recording credit and sundry transactions.
- Inventory systems.
- Individual accounts for debtors and creditors.
- Bank reconciliation.
- Supplier reconciliation.
- General ledger reconciliation.
CERTIFICATION
The Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB) is a Quality Assurance Partner (QAP) of the Finance and Accounting Services Sector Education and Training Authority (FASSET SETA). FASSET SETA falls under the Occupational Qualifications Framework (OQF) which is quality assured by the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO).
Varsity College, is a brand of The Independent Institute of Education (Pty) Ltd (The IIE) which is registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) as a Private Higher Education Institute, offers tuition for the Bookkeeping to Trial Balance module which is certified by FASSET and is one of four modules constituting the National Certificate: Bookkeeping, NQF level 3, SAQA ID 58375, which ICB offers.
On successful completion of this Bookkeeping to Trial Balance module, students will receive a full transcript of results from the ICB. FASSETT will issue your qualification certificate to you within three months once and if you have completed all the modules that make up your qualification.
