Course details

The course is aimed at personnel accessing the hub area of wind turbines.

The course will address hub access methods, safety and practical considerations associated with planning and undertaking rescue and evacuation from the hub, and casualty care.

The course can be delivered using a range of rescue equipment commonly used in wind turbines, or tailored to utilise the specific equipment in use in the wind turbines accessed by course participants. There is a strong emphasis on practical exercises during the course delivery, and the course is designed for personnel who have competence and valid certification in working at height on onshore/offshore wind turbines.

Participants will gain knowledge of hub access methods and considerations, gain experience in using a range of rescue equipment, and gain practical experience in assessing, planning and undertaking safe evacuation and rescue of a casualty from simulated hubs or on-site hubs.

ARCH certificate valid for 2 years from assessment date.

Admission Requirements

Those attending should be medically fit to carry out the practical part of the course and free from medical contra-indications that may prevent them from working safely at height (A list of conditions that could affect practical training and work at height is available on request). Course participants will be required to provide confirmation that they possess a valid medical certificate and also self-certify their medical and physical fitness before commencement of the course.

Participants should be aged 18 years or over and have competence and valid certification in working at height on wind turbines.
