Ina self-defense situation, you need to be in and out as fast as possible and youneed to have a stable stance so that if you are taken by surprise, and get hit,you dont fall on the ground, where you will be most vulnerable.
Thatswhy it is wise to have good footwork that will allow you to step in quickly tostop the situation, or step out quickly if you are overwhelmed by youropponent.
