Looking for a job is one of the most stressful tasks that anyone can undertake. Targeting a specific industry or job type can make a daunting task even more so. This course will help prepare the viewer, whether a seasoned Information Technology professional, or a student just out of school, to apply for and successfully obtain their first Linux Job.
This course is taught by a seasoned Information Technology professional with more than 20 years of industry experience in varying levels of management responsible for recommending candidates for employment or in making the hiring decision directly.
We will discuss how to use your professional network of contacts, the importance of cover letters, how to tailor your resume and what key topics to highlight in pursuit of that position. You will have an opportunity to view examples of effective resumes and cover letters and then discuss why they are effective.
What Is Covered?
These videos will introduce the viewer to approaches that have proven successful when preparing for specific positions in Information Technology. We will detail common terms and experiences to highlight on a resume and in an interview that demonstrate relevant competencies in Linux as well as show examples that can be used as guidelines when tailoring a resume for that Linux position.
We will also discuss relevant skills and certifications and how they can enhance the viewer’s marketability, demonstrate where to obtain those skills, experience and certifications. Once you complete this course, you should have a good foundation to build your Linux job search on.
