programme aims to provide students with an internationally recognised professional level qualification in web design. The course is designed to teach students how to build, optimise and manage professional quality websites for themselves as well as preparing for employment in the interactive media sector.
This unique hands-on programme combines technical web development & programming skills with multimedia design skills.
The course does not require previous design or programming experience but students are expected to have working knowledge of using Microsoft Windows or Apple OSX and general file management.
Students will learn to:
- Develop front end designs using a range of software including Photoshop, Illustrator, and Flash.
- Build websites and applications using the latest technologies, including HTML5, CSS3, and Wordpress.
Course Content
The course is delivered through practical computer sessions and lectures, with much of the first year spent building a solid base in the core disciplines in multimedia. During the first year students will design and build a range of web pages, web sites and graphic interfaces. As our students progress onto year two these skills will be honed and combined with advanced multimedia techniques and functions. You will learn how to manage a website and get brilliant results from your marketing campaigns using SEM, SEO, and Analytics. You will learn how to create websites that automatically adopt the best layout for the device they are being viewed on be it a widescreen TV or an iPhone. In the final terms you will put everything you have learned into practice when you develop you own WordPress templates (i.e. a website) using HTML5, CSS3, JQuery, and Responsive Design.
