    This exciting new programme has been developed by industry professionals and experienced lecturers. The programme will suit those who have an interest in/want to develop a career in Film/TV/Media Styling and Costume Design.

    This programme has been tailored to enable students build a portfolio of skills while offering a realistic experience of what it is like to work in the design, styling and management of contemporary and period costume across Film, TV and Media including Editorial.

    The course pivots around a series of workshops, lectures and individual projects which develop essential knowledge and skills. This format allows each student to build critical awareness and gain experience in delivering successful designs and practical solutions for a variety of briefs set over a range of media.

    Subjects and processes covered include:

    • Contemporary and period costume cut, fit, construction and embellishment
    • Make-up, Hair and Production Design culminating in the realization of the collective vision of producer and director
    • Costume planning and delivery
    • Budgeting and servicing of wardrobe before and during production
    • Visual communication and presentation skills essential to successful collaboration within project production
    • Script and concept interpretation and negotiation
    • Research methods
    • History and appreciation of costume design and social context
    • Sourcing and use of suppliers, costumiers, commissioning makes and outsourcing
    • New media appreciation and technology across, Film, TV and Media
    • Professional practice and freelance working in media

    The programme will integrate workshops, lectures, project briefs, study trips and collaborations with practicing industry experts. The programme culminates with students designing, styling and managing costume for media production projects.

    The course takes a highly practical and creative approach to the subject which aims to equip students with a range of skills and attributes to assist them to confidently and productively engage with the professional media world.

    On successful completion of the programme, the graduate learner will have developed the potential for employment in the following roles:

    The annual graduation is a special occasion that allows students to celebrate their academic achievements. This year’s graduation was held in the beautiful and historic Kings Inn.

    This year’s guest speaker was Irish fashion designer Paul Costelloe, who offered warm words of enctheiragement for all present.
