In an increasingly globalised economy, the course is aimed at providing the student with greater knowledge and skills in international business and management. It would furnish the student with the knowledge and skills necessary to build on greater skills and depth at the Degree level to succeed in an international business environment.
Learning Outcome
This course is designed to develop analytical, management and business skills in a diverse environment. Students will be able to demonstrate an appreciation of management practice, including human resources, marketing, information systems, microeconomics and company law. Students will understand how businesses function and how they interact with their environment, appreciate the wider global picture - and how business operates within it.
Entry Requirements
- Minimum age: 18 years
- GCE 'A' Levels with min. C6 for GCE ‘O’ English OR
- Diploma in International Management awarded by FTMSGlobal Academy OR
- Relevant Local/ Overseas Polytechnic Diploma or Professional qualifications
- ITE/ Higher NITEC OR
- Any other equivalent qualification would be considered on a case by case basis
English Language Requirements
When prior education is not in the English Language medium of instruction any one of the following is required:
- Professional Certificate in English - Intermediate awarded by FTMSGlobal Academy or equivalent OR
- IELTS 5.5 to 6.5/ TOEFL (paper-based) > 500 or TOEFL (computer-based) > 173
- Any other equivalent English qualifications

Course Modules
- Company Law: This module aims to explore the internal structures of the companies, their external relationships and the regulations governing administration and management of the company. It will also cover the scope of companies constitution, their functions, maintenance of capital and shareholders rights and obligations.
- Strategic Management: This module aims to provide students with an opportunity to apply concepts, skills, and techniques to real-world corporate problems.. Students will be introduced to topics like strategy formulation, implementation, and evaluation, with strategic planning referring only to strategy formulation. The purpose of strategic management is to exploit and create new and different opportunities for tomorrow; long-range planning, in contrast, tries to optimize for tomorrow the trends of today.
- Human Resource Management: This module aims to provide an understanding of the field of human resource management and emphasize the nature of the generalist practitioner rather than the specialist. It will examine the integration of HRM activities and strategies with those of the overall organization.
- Operations Management: This module aims to provide a clear, well structured and interesting treatment of operations management as it applies to a variety of business and organisations. ?t is intended to provide both a logical path through the activities of operations management and an understanding of their strategic context.
- Marketing Management: This module focuses on formulating and implementing marketing management strategies and policies, a task undertaken in most companies at the strategic business unit level. The marketing management process is important at all levels of the organization, regardless of the title applied to the activity. Typically, it is called corporate marketing, strategic marketing, or marketing management.
- International Trade and Development: This course is to help students understand the basics of international trade and development and the effects of various international economic policies. The course will highlight sources of comparative advantage, gains and losses from trade, the impact of trade on economic growth, and effects of trade policy interventions.
- Global Business Environment: This module is designed to provide students with an understanding of the various elements that comprise the international business environment, and how these may shape, facilitate and impede the spread and conduct of firms’ global activities and operations.
- Cross Cultural Management: This module is designed for students who wish to prepare themselves for working internationally with people of other cultures and faith. The content includes the importance of understanding one’s own culture, cultural differences to expect in various countries, cross-cultural communication and management skills, the challenges of multinational organisations, and the subjective meaning of a cross cultural experience.
- Project: This project aims to a create an awareness about the practical, empirical and behavioural practices pertaining to some contemporary issues as well as develop the knowledge and skill to apply the strong empirical based results into the real-life practices.
