HD Lighting (TV Studio and Location)

Course details

This unit equips participants with technical knowledge of how lighting and camera work in the TV studio and on-location, from lighting a two-way interview appropriately to mastering the art of framing. Participants get to understand how to create shapes and mood for the production shoot.

Participants will take away invaluable knowledge of technical aspects of lighting and what works best for indoor and outdoor shoots. They will also learn how to navigate the differences between 2D and 3D, and produce the best effects for the right technology and platform. The unit also gives participants the versatility to adapt lighting conditions for not just news, but also documentaries, talk shows and musicals. 

LEARNING OUTCOMES

• Master the technical aspect on how to light the scene so that its waveform conforms to the standard of the TV broadcast system, i.e. within the contrast ratio of the specific medium.
• Learn about the artistic aspect on how to produce picture which looks 3D on the 2D screen instead of the flat picture. 3D picture should have form, depth and mood
• Learn how to light presenter, news, interview, talk show, and musical show well
• Know how to handle the excessive contrast range, mixed color temperature situation; use of sun light/skylight, blocking of sunlight/skylight when shooting on location
