Course details

This is a one year course which consists of intensive training in the skills and education required for the Hairdressing Industry with the option to continue for a further year to a higher level of hairdressing in Crumlin College. Training is provided in the fully-equipped College hairdressing salons. Our work experience programme offers students the opportunity to further develop their skills in selected and approved hairdressing salons.

Awarding Body:

  • Further Education & Training Awards Council (FETAC)/QQI - Hairdressing Award, Level 5
  • Department of Education & Skills - Junior Trade Hairdressing Certificate

Career Opportunities:

Crumlin College is a major provider of courses for the Hairdressing Industry including training for apprentices for Junior Trade and Senior Trade; short courses for updating Hairdressing Skills and the Masters Diploma Course for qualified hairdressers. These part-time courses can be combined with a salon apprenticeship. Upon successful completion of this course, students may gain placement as a Senior First Year Apprentice in a high-profile hairdressing salon or progresss to Year 2 Hairdressing in Crumlin College.

Minimum Entry Requirements:

Leaving Certificate/Leaving Certificate Applied or equivalent - exemptions may be granted to mature students. All entry is subject to interview.
