This course is designed for those with an enthusiasm and ability to obtain a recognised qualification in hairdressing in a real salon environment. Mallow College has a fully equipped working salon on site. This dynamic course will provide the knowledge and foundation that is needed pursue an exciting career in hairdressing. Certified by the Department of Education Junior and Senior Trades Certificates, learners will be ready for their two year apprenticeship to becoming fully qualified hairdressers; and after a further two years experience, becoming qualified hairdressing trainers.

Entry Requirements
- No CAO points required.
- An English language test may be required for international students from countries where English is not a first language.
- For mature candidates recognition of prior learning and experience will be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.
- Leaving Certificate (established), Leaving Certificate Applied (LCA), or equivalent.
- Places will be allocated on the basis of an interview and a competency assessment.

- QQI Certificate in Hairdressing, Level 5 – 5M3351.
- DoE Senior Trades Certificate.
- DoE Junior Trades Certificate.
Work Experience
Work experience is an integral part of this course. Each student is responsible for securing their own work placement. Dates and duration will be specified by the College.
