This programme has been designed to help enable participants to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to handle, manage and use pesticides in accordance with requirements of current national and EU legislation and directives.

• Participants applying for this award should hold a level 4 and/or have relevant life and work experience. Applicants will have the opportunity to advise of any special learning requirements on application/registration

• 40% Project, 60% Examination

Programme Content

• Explain the key requirements of national and EU legislation governing the purchase, storage, use, and disposal of pesticide products and identify pesticide products
• Analyse the risks, hazards, and risk prevention and control strategies
• Requirements for- preparation, operation, maintenance, and storage of pesticide application
• Implement emergency procedures to protect human health and envi-ronment in the event of fire, accidental spillage or contamination
• Evaluate a given pesticide storage facility to include: design and construction, records, controls associated with storage, handling and use of pesticides, spillage containment and protocols for dealing with spillage and redundant pesticides, first aid measures and emergency plan for dealing with pesticide poisoning
• Develop operational and reporting procedures for the supply.
