The aim of this module is to equip nurses working with older adults, with the knowledge necessary, to provide the most informed and skilled nursing care.
On completion of this course, learners will receive a FETAC/QQI certificate in Gerontology Level 6.
Programme Aim:
Learners who successfully complete this module will;
- Acquire an initial understanding of the normal and pathological changes in adulthood.
- Become more aware of personal and societal attitudes towards old age and older people.
- Identify relevant legislation, community resources, care programmes and institutions for older people.
- Understand more fully the issues relating to successful ageing.
- Understand the Gerontology is both a multi and interdisciplinary study of ageing and older people
