Course details
This intensive and practical programme looks at futures from the perspective of financial institution users. Financial institutions (fund managers, funds administrators, insurers,banks etc.) use futures for a variety of reasons – each of which we will deal with.
First, we begin with a clear, explicit and practical outline of what futures are. Next , we look at how they are dealt with in the back office and in finance/treasury. The course will include a series of case studies on
- Choosing the appropriate futures strategies
- Risks, including operational risks in futures
- Life of a futures trade
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the training, participants will be able to:
- Explain what futures are, and how they are used by financial institutions
- Demonstrate to colleagues how futures are priced, traded, margined and settled
- Give examples of what can go wrong and how these risks are managed
- Describe why the back office practicalities for futures are so important
