Course details

Foundations in Accountancy forms a new flexible suite of entry-level ACCA awards which focus on the core skills of financial and management accounting and prepare students to work competently in accounting support roles. Certification is awarded at each level, equipping students with a flexible qualification which enables employers to match the appropriate level of qualification with their business needs.

Entry Requirement

No prior qualifications are required. Students can register to take examinations at any level within Foundations in Accountancy. There is no requirement to complete the Introductory Certificate in Financial & Management Accounting or the Intermediate Certificate in Financial & Management Accounting prior to completing the Diploma in Accounting and Business. Students are strongly recommended, however, to complete the qualifications in the order below.

Examinations

The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) is the awarding body for the Foundations in Accountancy and the Certified Accounting Technician qualifications.

Students should check the requirements of the ACCA before enrolling on the programme. LIT accepts no liability for the failure of students to meet the requirements of the ACCA.

Course Content

Introductory Certificate in Financial & Management Accounting 

  • Awarded on completion of the examinations Recording Financial Transactions (FA1), Management Information (MA1); and the online module Foundations in Professionalism

Intermediate Certificate in Financial & Management Accounting

  • Awarded on completion of the examinations Maintaining Financial Records (FA2), Managing Costs and Finance (MA2); and the online module Foundations in Professionalism

Diploma in Accounting & Business

  • Awarded on completion of the examinations Accountant in Business (FAB)*, Financial Accounting (FFA)*, Management Accounting (FMA)*; and the online module Foundations in Professionalism
  • Having obtained the 3 qualifications listed above, students can then transfer into the ACCA professional course and be exempted from the first 3 papers.
  • Students can also transfer into the Certified Accounting Technician programme.
