Course details
The FIC course will provide participants with the theoreticaland practical knowledge required for their role as a Fitness Instructor. At the end of the course, participants are expected to be able to execute the basic exercises correctly. Additionally, participants shall be able to conduct and provide the necessary instructions to their potential client to enable the client to perform the exercises in a proper and safe manner. Participants should also be able to prescribe the appropriate and effective exercise training programme that achieves their client’s fitness and health goals.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this 40-hour hands-on approach course, participant should be proficient in:
- Demonstrating the basic exercises techniques correctly and safely to potential client.
- Able to plan and implement effective fitness and conditioning sessions and programmes to suit their potential client’s specific exercise and fitness goals.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
- Must possess a valid CPR certification (prior to the comencement of the Attachment hours)
- Must pass the Basic Sports Science course or equivalent qualification.The list of the equivalent qualifications are listed on Sport Singapor e’s website.
Important note: maximum class size will be capped at 40pax, applicants will be offered on a first come first serve basis.
ASSESSMENT
A. Theory examination
There are 2 assessment components:
- 1st exam : 30 Multiple Choice Questions (10% weightage)
- 2nd exam : 75 Multiple Choice Questions (90% weightage)
Candidates are required to score an overall result of 70% from the 2 assessments to pass the theory examination.
B. Practical examination
The 3 stations to be assessed are:
Flexibility, Stack and Free weights
Body composition
Aerobic fitness
- Participants must pass all three stations to sucessfully complete the Practical component
- Participants must meet the required attendance of 80% for lessons to be eligible to sit for the examinations
- Participants are allowed up to 2 attempts at the re-assessment (within the next 6 months). Failing which,the candidate will be required to re-apply and register for the FIC course again.
