Course details
For those with a passion for fashion! You will learn about the fashion industry and build your design portfolio. You will also take part in work-related learning to give you industry skills, including designing and producing fashion garments for an annual fashion show.
What will I learn?
First Year
Foundation Studies in English and Information Technology. Students study towards the internationally-recognised Cambridge English Language Assessments and the Cambridge International Certificate in IT Skills (validated by University of Cambridge International Examinations, CIE).
Second Year
In year two, level 3 (EFQ) Fashion Design students are introduced to the range of skills and techniques required to work in the fashion industry, Units include fashion design drawing, colour and fabrics, fashion market research, producing garments, pattern making and sizing.
Third Year
In year three, level 4 (EFQ) further develop their skills with mandatory units in fashion illustration, advanced pattern making, undertake a collaborative design project and using IT to support the creative process. Students can further specialise in knitted, woven or printed textiles.
How will I benefit from taking this course?
Students develop their skills in fashion design, illustration, pattern cutting, fashion production and market research. Students learn about materials, costs and production processes, thinking creatively and the communication of their ideas fluently and persuasively.
