Course details
This new programmehas been developed to give students a commercially focused understanding of the role of the fashion buyer, both in high volume textiles and branded selection.
The course has been developed in conjunction with a Senior Fashion Buyer for one of Ireland’s largest retailers and by the leading recruiters for Ireland’s buying offices.
This is delivered through a combination of lectures and practical sessions with a view to providing useable practical knowledge and a real advantage when seeking employment in the sector.
Course Content
Module 1
Sales, Profitability and Commercial Focus- Maximising sales opportunities and performance through product
Module 2
Range- Identify and develop key styling, colour palette and Range content with consumer trend
Module 3
Forward Planning, Product Development Negotiation and Sourcing - Look worldwide to develop and source a quality product
Module 4
Samples and Specifications- Establish relevant garment specifications and maintain high quality standards
Module 5
Sales and Stock - Performance Reporting
Module 6
Analysis – Problem solving and maintaining accurate paper work
Course Outcomes
After completion, students will be able to:

Course Assessment
The course is assessed through a mixture of project work and examination.
Certification
On successful completion of this programme participants will receive a Dublin Institute of Design Associate Certificate in Fashion Buying & Product Planning.
