Course details

This dynamic course aims to introduce the student to the planning, buying and selling aspects of the ready-to-wear fashion industry. Whilst the course has a strong business orientation, it also places strong emphasis on the creative process of product development; from inception of the range, to manufacturing, through to fashion marketing and pomotion. Through these diverse areas,students will develop a keen understanding of the design elements of the fashion industry but will also have a firm grasp of the key aspects of the business environment of fashion buying & merchandising. Our work experience programme offers students the opportunity to further develop their skills in this area.

Further Education & Training Awards Council (FETAC)/QQI - Business Studies Award Level 5

Career Opportunities:

It is envisaged that the course would prepare students for careers as buyers in fashion stores, stylists, fashion consultants, fashion journalists and fashion marketeers.

Further Education: Sucessful students can progress to the Fashion Mangement Course (Year 2) in the College.

Minimum Entry Requirements:

Leaving Certificate/Leaving Certificate Applied or equivalent standards of education. Exemptions may be granted to mature students. All entry is subject to interview.
